We are looking for a talented multi-tasking individual to work
in a fun and innovative team environment utilizing open source
databases of MySQL and PostgreSQL powering cutting edge web
applications.

Job Title: MySQL/PostgresSQL DBA Architect/Administrator;

Position Type; Full-time regular employee with full benefits;

Job Description:

This person is ultimately responsible for the integrity of
company high-volume databases and improving the overall system
to increase fault tolerance system and high performance. The
position involves both administration activities supporting
mission-critical products and architectural skills contributing
to the design of next-generation applications. The position is
highly technical but involves a day-to-day communications with
business customers and partners. Potential candidate should be
comfortable working in Agile (project development methodology)
environment. A good candidate should have a "can-do" attitude,
work well in a cross-functional environment, must be able to
work without tight supervision and lead others. Candidate
should be a self-starter, quick learner and great team player.

Architect responsibilities include data modeling, design of the
data storage hardware infrastructure, optimizing and tuning
systems for OLTP performance, and query analysis and profiling.
A key task will also involve designing applications with
developers to ensure optimal use of data storage systems.
The person in this role will be expected to use define and
enforce best-practices in data management based upon standard
industry practices.

Candidate must have proven skills operationally in managing
multiple production server environments, including system
monitoring, security management, schema deployment and
lifecycle, system upgrades, troubleshooting, disaster recovery
planning, backup strategies, file system maintenance, and
replicating databases.

Candidate must have 5+ years experience supporting large,
replicated databases in a 24x7 geographically distributed
production environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

Architect; Expert knowledge of RDBMS concepts including query
and data model optimization covering indexing, bitmaps, query
plans, data file organization, etc.
Work with developers to understand applications and operational
system parameters and contribute to engineering designs .
Experienced working with large data warehouses .Data modeling
and refactoring .Owns the design and implementation of the data
storage tier

Administration;

Administration skills for MySQL, PostgresSQL and Sybase .
Ensures availability and integrity of data .Hands on day-to-day
maintenance and backups .Oversees replication processes with
MySQL 5 and PostgreSQL 8.x with Slony 1.x to data warehouse .
Linux administration experience with RHEL4

Preferred skills:

Nagios, Moodss and Cacti monitoring (or other comparable
tools), .Data Modeling tools experience (Erwin, ER Studio, or
other comparable tool), .Proficient with generating data
analysis reports .Scripting and programming skills in a Linux
environment with PERL, Java, SED, AWK
