Job Description

Designation - PostgreSQL Database Administrator

Location - Wadgaonsheri, Pune

Experience - 5 to 10 yrs

Type - On site, Full Time

Overview:

We are looking for a highly skilled PostgreSQL Database Administrator with 5
-10 years of experience, ideally within the insuretech or insurance domain.
This is a critical role responsible for ensuring the integrity, performance,
and scalability of our PostgreSQL environments including advanced
time-series workloads with TimescaleDB and high availability via Patroni.

You will also play a key role in implementing and maintaining observability
and alerting solutions, with a preference for OpenTelemetry, though
experience with Prometheus, Grafana, or SigNoz is also highly valued. You
will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver resilient data
infrastructure for mission-critical applications.

Key Responsibilities:

* Database Deployment & Management: Design, deploy, and maintain
robust PostgreSQL clusters in production and staging environments.

* High Availability: Configure, manage, and monitor Patroni-based
PostgreSQL clusters to ensure automatic failover and minimal downtime.

* Time-Series Data: Implement and optimize TimescaleDB for handling
large-scale time-series data and analytics.

* Performance Tuning: Monitor database health, analyze performance,
tune queries, and optimize indexes to ensure peak performance.

* Backup & Disaster Recovery: Develop and automate backup, restore,
and disaster recovery processes that meet compliance and business
requirements.

* Observability & Alerting: Integrate, configure, and manage
observability solutions using OpenTelemetry (preferred), or Prometheus,
Grafana, or SigNoz to ensure proactive monitoring and alerting of database
health and performance.

* Collaboration: Work closely with DevOps, engineering, and data
teams to support application development, deployment, and incident response.

* Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain database security
policies and ensure compliance with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR,
HIPAA).

* Documentation & Best Practices: Document architecture, processes,
and best practices; mentor junior team members as needed.

Requirement:

* Experience - 5-10 years hands-on experience as a PostgreSQL DBA,
with a track record of supporting production environments.

* Technical Skills -

* Advanced expertise with PostgreSQL administration, performance
tuning, and troubleshooting.
* In-depth experience with TimescaleDB extension for time-series data.
* Hands-on experience configuring and managing Patroni for high
availability.
* Strong SQL skills and experience with database schema design.
* Proficiency in observability and alerting tools: OpenTelemetry
(preferred), Prometheus, Grafana, or SigNoz.
* Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python) for
automation.

* Cloud & Containers - Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure,
GCP) and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
