Hi,

pcp_promote_node --switchover does not change the watchdog status and does not move the watchdog virtual IP. This is expected behavior.
pcp_promote_node only switches PostgreSQL backend roles between primary and standby.

In Pgpool-II, the VIP is associated with the Pgpool-II leader, not with the PostgreSQL primary. Therefore, even if you perform a PostgreSQL switchover using pcp_promote_node commands, it is not possible to make the VIP to migrate to the promoted primary.

Hi all,
I don't understand if using pcp_promote_node --switchover
(<https://www.pgpool.net/docs/47/en/html/pcp-promote-node.html>)
implies also a watchdog status change, as it seems to me this is not
the case. Assuming I have a current pimrary and main node, and I want
to promote another node in the cluster, what is the correct way to
make the watchdog ip to migrate to the promoted primary?

Thanks,
Luca
