this is my .login file (it is executed whenever I log in , just before the
.tcshrc file is executed)

setenv PGLIB /usr/local/pgsql/lib
setenv PGDATA /usr/local/pgsql/data
setenv EDITOR=joe
setenv VISUAL=joe
