que tal estoy usando postgres 6.5.1
y me preguntaba si existe alguna forma de poner la base de forma exclusiva
de tal forma que cuando yo lo haga me bote atodos lo susuarios y no
permita que se haga ninguna transaccion

Puedes probar desde psql con REVOKE ALL ON tabla TO PUBLIC

Intenta hacerle un cast al parametro de comparacion:

select * from tabla where columna like '1234'::varchar;

Si aun quieres cambiar el tipo de dato de la columna, tendras que crear=20
una nueva tabla y luego tranferirle los datos:

copy tabla to '/tmp/archivo' ;
drop table tabla ;
create table tabla ( columna int ) ;
copy tabla from '/tmp/archivo';

No ser que tienes algn caracter
raro entre tus datos?
prueba hacer:

select * from tabla where columna like '%1234%';

(y que realmente exista el registro por el que
preguntas)

Para hacer una copia de seguridad de tu base de datos,
debes exportar las tablas con pg_dump:

$ pg_dump -d nombre_de_la_base_de_datos >datos.txt

te genera un script con las definiciones de las tablas
y ademas con todos los datos.

pg_dump -d nombre_de_la_base_de_datos -s >datos.txt
solo exporta las estructuras de las tablas.

Posteriormente podes comprimir el archivo datos.txt para
poder transportarlo.

Para bajar los datos en otra maquina, despues de instalar el
postgresql y crear la base de datos, debes entrar en psql y
ejecutar el archivo datos.txt como un script. Es todo.

Hola:

Estoy intentando crear el lenguaje PL/perl para usarlo dentro de pgsql, en =
las funciones.

Sin embargo, al compilar postgres con la bandera --with-perl, el compilador=
me advierte que no crea el lenguaje debido a que no existe una biblioteca =
de perl en estado compatido.

Busco en la documentaci=F3n y encuentro que para poder tener esa biblioteca=
en la forma debida, tengo que obtener y compilar perl.

Obtengo la versi=F3n estable de perl, la compilo, pruebo e instalo y vuelvo=
a compilar pgsql: el resultado es el mismo.

=BFAlguien lo ha logrado? =BFC=F3mo?

=BFcompilaste perl para construirse como biblioteca din=E1mica? ie,
=BFusaste el par=E1metro -Duseshrplib al correr Configure?. =BFqu=E9 te dice
cuando ejecutas:

$ perl -e 'use Config; print "$Config{'useshrplib'}\n"'

Si te dice `false' entonces perl no esta esta contruido como biblioteca
din=E1mica.

Pues yo no lo he hecho, pero s=ED puedo decirte que tal vez necesites
compilar tu perl dandole --enable-shared a tu ./configure

Hola a todos:
Estoy tratando de hacer una funcion en PL/PGSQL que recorra los
registros que resulten de un SELECT; le problema es que el query que se
ejecute se generaria dinamicamente entonces tengo problemas para mandarlo
al FOR; lo que llevo es esto:

en la linea 11 he cambiado el "EXECUTE sentencia" por "EXECUTE ''SELECT *
FROM '' || tabla ||'' WHERE nombre =3D '' || $1;"
pero aun asi no funciona marca "parse error at or near EXECUTE".

En que estoy mal?
Existe otra manera de hacer esto?

P.D. La version de Postgres e la 7.0.2

escribimos una aplicacion que obtiene datos de fotos
y los guarda en una base de datos, actualmente tiene
8000 registros, cuando hacemos un pg_dump, el archivo queda como de
3.8 Mb, pero en el directorio database el comando du -sk da algo as=ED=20
como 19M
como puedo saber el tama=F1o real de mi base de datos

es la primera vez que trabajo con bases de datos, lo =FAnico que tenemos=20
como referencia es que
las b=FAsquedas son r=E1pidas, pero necesito saber como trabajan los=20
indices, que es lo que debo respaldar y de que me debo preocupar
por su atencion
