We're having a weird problem with the server ... one that started on
Monday when we added an 18gig drive to the machine, and persists since
we've taken it out ...

for some *odd* reason, the NIC appears to be getting "wedged" ... a simple
'ifconfig down/up' appears to fix it ... we're still investigating ...
