Hi,

As a new PostgreSQL DBA I struggle with getting a list of all post-installation instructions for patches. Is it possible to have a section in the README stating what has to be done against the PostgreSQL cluster to apply database-related actions after a patch has been installed?

The patch announcement gives an terse overview on what to do, but announcements of previous patches are hard – if not impossible – to find and the patch READMEs themselves do not give such an overview.

A company such as Oracle supplies a README with their patches with concise post-installation steps. Is it possible to get such an overview of steps for PostgreSQL as well? Exact syntax is not needed, but an overview on what exact to reindex (e.g. in case of 18.6) would be much appreciated. It would make life of a DBA much easier and might even promote database patch automation in case the steps are provided in each README in the same way.

Met vriendelijke groet,
Michael Verheij
