Database SRE - New York, permanent

Hi all,

I'm partnering with Hudson River Trading (HRT) to find an experienced Database Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join their growing R&D team. This is a rare chance to work in one of the most advanced tech environments in trading, alongside a team that builds and maintains a massive distributed compute cluster and petabyte-scale storage systems. They're looking for someone with strong Linux systems engineering skills and deep expertise in database infrastructure to take the lead on designing, building, and scaling high-performance, reliable systems.

Key Responsibilities:

* Architect, manage, and scale SQL and NoSQL infrastructure (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis)
* Tune performance and reliability of critical trading and research workflows
* Drive observability using Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, and Grafana
* Leverage infrastructure-as-code tools like Salt and Terraform
* Prototype and implement new datastore solutions based on evolving use cases

What HRT Is Looking For:

* 5+ years of experience in database management and infrastructure engineering
* Proven background in designing and scaling production DB environments
* Expertise in PostgreSQL and/or MySQL
* Strong Linux (especially Debian) knowledge
* Experience with Redis, Prometheus, VictoriaMetrics, Grafana is a plus
* Solid Python programming skills
* Great communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities

Compensation & Benefits:
HRT pays world leading compensation, total comp (base + bonus) is highly competitive and reflects experience and impact. Packages may also include a sign-on bonus, generous performance incentives, and company-paid medical and other benefits. Salary could range from anything between $300-$600K.
