I have a postgreSQL database running on Redhat Linux 7.1
My front end is Access on Windows NT
The Version of PostgreSQL is 7.1.3 and the version of PSQLODBC is
7.02.0002(Multi Byte version).
I have a very serious problem. When i connect from msaccess the ODBC error
occurs.
The psqlodbc log file says that Connection error has happened.
CONN ERROR : func=PGAPI_DriverConnect, desc ='Error from
CC_Connect',err_num=210,
errmsg='Unexpected protocol character during authentication'

then another message that is logged is
errornumber=5 errormsg='Error while reading from the socket'

The database server is started as follows.

pg_ctl -o "-B 128 -N 64 -s -i -d 3" start

The tcp_socket paramter in the postgres.conf file is set to false and
commented.

The Client environment
DHCP clients (WindowsNT workstation)

Please suggest a way to solve this issue. I have been stuck with this
problem for
quite some time.

Thanks for any help

Rajeev
