I can't speak for Access, but there's nothing in the ODBC driver that I can think of that should be 2000/XP sensitive. The SQLTables code hasn't changed that I can recall either between the versions you mention.
Can you send me a mylog from 2K showing an attempt to list the tables in Access please?
