Hello,
Did you try the snapshot I mentioned (available at www.cygwin.com )?
I got exactly the same problem with cygwin-1.3.3-2 until I used a snapshot.
This is on a windows 98SE machine. (Of course I only consider it a
development platform and wouldn't actually put a production server on a 9x
machine).
