Hello!
I hope everyone’s well and enjoying the summer.
I want to share some news about the recently launched PostgreSQL Europe Diversity Task Force<https://www.postgresql.eu/diversity/>, and to ask for your input and involvement.
The goal of the Diversity Task Force is to improve diversity, equity and inclusion within the PostgreSQL Europe community.
We’re very excited about this initiative. It’s important to us that everyone feels welcomed, valued and represented within the PostgreSQL Europe community, and we know that it’s essential to have a diverse community with a variety of viewpoints, skills and expertise.
We want to hear from as many people as possible, especially those who are part of a group that is underrepresented in the PostgreSQL community. Please let us know what you need from us and what kinds of initiatives you would like us to work on first. We have lots of ideas, of course, and want to make sure we prioritise the ones that are most important to you. You can start the conversation by replying to this message, or you can send an email directly to diversity(at)postgresql(dot)eu<mailto:diversity(at)postgresql(dot)eu>.
We're in the process of forming the committee that will work to define and prioritise the objectives of the task force. We recently invited all current PostgreSQL Europe members to express their interest in joining the committee. The deadline for applications is Friday 30 August so you still have time to get in touch if you’d like to be a part of the committee. Email diversity(at)postgresql(dot)eu<mailto:diversity(at)postgresql(dot)eu> for more information. If you’re not yet a PostgreSQL Europe member, or if your membership has lapsed, you can sign up at https://www.postgresql.eu/membership.
We’ll keep everyone up to date on the work of the task force and there will be frequent opportunities to share ideas and become involved.
We look forward to hearing from you and hope to see lots of you in Athens this October for PGConf.EU<http://pgconf.eu>.
Best regards,
Karen Jex
