2ndQuadrant today announced the release of Barman version 2.6. This release
introduces support for geographical redundancy, allowing DBAs and System
Administrators to add another tier to their disaster recovery solution for
PostgreSQL databases.
Barman [https://www.2ndquadrant.com/en/resources/barman/] (Backup and
Recovery Manager) is an open source administration tool for managing backup
and disaster recovery of PostgreSQL servers. It allows you to perform
remote backups of multiple servers in business-critical environments and
helps DBAs during the recovery phase.
Barman v2.6 presents the following new features:
- Add support for geographical redundancy. Geo-redundancy allows a Barman
server to use another Barman server as a data source, instead of using a
PostgreSQL server.
- Add 'put-wal' command. This allows Barman to safely receive WAL files via
PostgreSQL's 'archive_command' using the new 'barman-wal-archive' script
included in the latest 'barman-cli' package.
- Add ANSI colour support to 'check' command.
This release also includes minor bug fixes. A complete list of changes and
bug fixes is available here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/pgbarman/files/2.6/
Download and installation instructions are available here:

Barman is developed and maintained by 2ndQuadrant and distributed under GPL
v3.
