Hello everyone,
My name is Osama Abdul Qader, and I'm a 2026 B.Tech graduate who began
contributing to PostgreSQL around July 2026. I'd like to briefly introduce
myself and announce the email address I'll be using for future
correspondence.
My contributions and current work
I participated in the discussion titled *"Fix detection of truncated
zstd-compressed backups,"* involving Chao and Daniel.
I also contributed to the discussion *"REPACK (ANALYZE) within transaction
block segfaults."* I developed a patch for this issue, which Álvaro Herrera
subsequently merged into the PostgreSQL codebase.[1]
I'm currently participating in discussions and investigations involving the
following issues:
-
*Fix Unique Without Overlaps + NULLS NOT DISTINCT + multiranges* [4]
-
*Regression test might fail due to deadlock between* [3]
-
*Severe performance degradation with concurrent updates due to excessive
EvalPlanQual (EPQ) re-evaluation* [2]
I'm grateful for the opportunity to learn from and collaborate with the
PostgreSQL community as I continue contributing to the project.
For my development work, I use ChatGPT as an AI-assisted tool for exploring
ideas and possible solutions. I review the suggestions critically and take
responsibility for validating and testing the changes I make rather than
relying on generated output blindly.
Email address change
I'll be using the following email address for future correspondence:
-
*Previous:* osamaabdulqader(dot)cs(at)gmail(dot)com
-
*New:* osamaabdulqaderpostgres(at)gmail(dot)com
Please update your contacts accordingly and use my new address for future
correspondence. I'll continue participating in PostgreSQL discussions and
contributing to the project.
You can find more information about me on my LinkedIn profile
<https://linkedin.com/in/oa-qader>.
Thank you for your time. I look forward to continuing to learn from and
contribute to this community.
Best regards,
Osama Abdul Qader
