I'm able to run ANALYSE manually without it dying:

pgbench=# analyse pgbench_accounts;
ANALYZE
pgbench=# analyse pgbench_accounts;
ANALYZE
pgbench=# create index minmaxtest on pgbench_accounts using minmax (aid);
PANIC: invalid xlog record length 0
