Hi,

I had higher version of Postgres might be 8.1.9,but  I
am not sure.

Now I am trying to install Postgres 8.1.4, I installed all
rpm, however If I try  to run the  server I am getting error below

An old version of the database format was found.

You need to upgrade the data format before using PostgreSQL.

See /usr/share/doc/postgresql-8.1.4/README.rpm-dist for more
information.

Help me to up the server of newly installed Postgres 8.1.4

Thanks & Regards,

Anuj Pankaj

when making your new database installation, you created a new cluster? or you used the old cluster?
