Mark works for the Open Source Development Labs ( and  
does database systems performance testing using a fair-use  
implementation of the TPC benchmarks.  What are TPC benchmarks?  Have  
a look:

Mark is planning on talking about what he does on a day-to-day  
basis.  And, of course, fielding questions.  He currently works  
primarily with PostgreSQL, and occasionally with MySQL.

There will be brownies in the spirit of Thanksgiving week.

Also - for those who haven't heard, Free Geek was broken into on  
Saturday.  If you are looking for a worthy organization to donate  
money to, now would be a great time to donate to Free Geek.  They  
lost about $4500 in hardware and several doors were damaged that they
