Hi,

This is the official list of candidates for the PGEU elections,
including their presentations, in alphabetical order (by first name).

Elections will open tomorrow (Feb 1st), and be open until Feb 14th.

Results will be published as soon as possible after that date.

For more information about the elections, please see
http://www.postgresql.eu/about/elections/.

List of candidates
------------------
* Jean-Paul Argudo
* Magnus Hagander

And their presentations:

Jean-Paul Argudo
----------------

Jean-Paul promotes Free Software since 2000 and takes actively part in
the PostgreSQL community. He created the french-speaking PostgreSQL
website (http://www.PostgreSQL.fr/). This was the first step in creating
a french-speaking community, in which he takes part too.

He's a member of the administration council and one of the founders of
the french PostgreSQLFr non profit organization.

He's also the treasurer and board member of PostgreSQL Europe since its
beginning, and willing to be reelected in 2011.

He performed numerous migrations from proprietary databases to
PostgreSQL as the owner of Dalibo, the french PostgreSQL expertise company.

He daily helps users having the best PostgreSQL clusters for the best
performances, matching users'needs.

Magnus Hagander
---------------

I've been a board member of PostgreSQL Europe since it's creation in
2008, and have been serving as the president of the board. I'm also
a developer in the global development group, and I work on the
infrastructure services that we use. During paid time, I work as a
PostgreSQL consultant for Redpill Linpro in the nordic region, doing
all sorts of PostgreSQL things - training, support, consulting,
development etc.

It's been an interesting first three years with PostgreSQL Europe,
and we have only fairly recently reached a point where we are "ready"
to start working on the things we have intended to all along.

During my time so far we have run a couple of very successful
conferences (PGDay.EU) and also "manned booths" at several other
conferences and events. But we have so far not managed to do a very
good job of the "support local usergroups" side of our mission.
We have done some of it, for example in the cooperation with
PostgreSQL FR for the conference work in 2009, but there is much
improvement to be done on this side, and this is something I would
like us to work harder on.

I would also like to see us use our resources, both financial and
manpower-wise, to reach out and spread the word of PostgreSQL into
other communities than our own, such as the development language
and framework communitites that exist around Europe. I know we have
members who are parts of both sides, and I would like for us to
work with these members to increase our visibility "abroad".

Finally, I would like to involve more people in general in the
activities of PostgreSQL Europe. I strongly believe that we need
to involve people beyond the board in more of the different
activities, and so far this has worked reasonably well for the
conferences but not for much else. There is much room for
improvement here.

I would be honored to continue serving on the board for the next
period. Thank you for your support in this!
