Has pg_dump ever worked for you? - or did it suddenly stop working one
day? If the latter, what changed around the time it stopped working?
Are you running pg_dump from the Linux VM, or from the XP host?
It's *really* bizarre that you get absolutely nothing.... does pg_dump
--help or pg_dump --version give you anything?
Note that 7.3 is *very* old; in fact, it is no longer supported by the
community, meaning that bug fixes are no longer back-ported to it -
that's been the case for a while now. You really should upgrade when you
can.
