I've closed the comment for the SFPUG October 12th meeting. But I'd like
to make an appeal to leave the comments on by default. Apologies for
opening the comments setting for the entry you posted but I was hopeful
that this technology would succeed. The blacklist filter has cut down on
spam volume by a significant amount, and it gets more effective each time
it is updated.

The comments have been used on all the pugs by real people. Including the
Portland Users group site which does not currently have a maintainer.
Randal Schwartz and Dann Corbit posted there. I know the spam is an
annoyance and offensive to some, and something that the blacklist filter
will not completely eliminate, but the comments also serve a community
function in allowing two way interaction, imho.

My $0.02. I won't be there for the October meeting but will 90% likely be
there for November.

Thanks,

Fred
