When I installed pgAdmin with MS Installer (version 1.10.1029.1), I was
not given the option to select the target directory (such as would be
the case with, say, InstallShield). Instead, it forces the installation
into "C:\Program Files\Vale Software". Is this the normal behaviour?
If so, any reason why I am restricted to using this directory?

Thanks for the info.
