I think that instead of defining savepoints it is simpler and more
efficient to use
BeginInternalSubTransaction +
ReleaseCurrentSubTransaction/RollbackAndReleaseCurrentSubTransaction
as it is done in PL/pgSQL (pl_exec.c).
