Hi,

I repeated the entire installation process, just to make sure I had followed the right steps.
Have dowloaded the source and then built it using Visual Studio 2005 on Windows XP.

Things worked fine, with the expected messages...
Till, as before, I issued the createdb command
It is asking for a password and I have not set any password anywhere.

1. I have checked the pg_hba.conf and have attached it, in case you would like to refer.

2. Made one change in postgresql.conf. Changed the listen_addresses to my current ip.

This was to take care of the following problem:

LOG: could not bind IPv4 socket: Address already in use
HINT: Is another postmaster already running on port 5432? If not, wait a few seconds and retry.
WARNING: could not create listen socket for "*"
FATAL: could not create any TCP/IP sockets

3. Have also attached the screen shots of 'initdb' and 'postgres'.

4. The system waited for too long after the message 'Autovaccum Launcher Started'.

Once I pressed Ctrl+C, to get the prompt. Did I make a mistake here?? It was over 45 min. so I pressed Ctrl +C.

I then let it wait for much longer as I had read somewhere that it may take longer.

But it did not work in either case.

Please help.

Thanks,

Regards
Swati
