FYI, this is now fixed in Red Hat's rawhide version:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1190978

Don't know what the update process is like for Debian's copy, but
maybe you could pester the appropriate people to absorb the referenced
upstream fix quickly.
