I just installed postgres 7.3.1 and php 4.3.0 on a fresh server a couple
of days ago and didn't get your error... I haven't used it much, but "php
-i" returns:

pgsql

PostgreSQL Support => enabled
PostgreSQL(libpq) Version => 7.3.1
Multibyte character support => enabled
SSL support => disabled
Active Persistent Links => 0
Active Links => 0

and I do not have a libpq.so.2 (I have .3)
