AFAIK they can only be used on XML files, but you can get XML from the
postgresql sgml sources by using make postgres.xml .

Of course your changes that you make from release to release for volumes
won't be permanent and we will continue to waste time because people
have an odd affection for SGML like it was some kind of pet dog.
