hi! i hope this is the right forum for this question.
i've got RH 7.1 & postgresql server installed on a machine for a small business that i want others who are on ms pc's to connect to. the DB server has been backending a web server to meet the businesses somewhat modest needs (basically to put their catalog online); but now they're interested in tracking inventories with the DB server; and for them this means sending info from a scanner palm device whose cradle's connected to a pc to the database server by ethernet.

problem is, i'm not sure how to make the network connection from the client end; and i'm searching for a tutorial that might show me how i might do it. (btw, the server has odbc driver for postgresql installed)

any suggestions?

thanks,
james
