Open Source ERP to Drive Open Source Database Adoption

Posted on 2005-11-10

A recent survey conducted by Sequoia Open Source ERP (http://www.sequoiaerp.org) found that over 90% of respondents preferred to use an open source database for their open source ERP application. In contrast, only 7% of the respondents preferred to use a commercial database such as Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server.

This seems to confirm the theory that as users become comfortable with one open source solution, they will naturally look to other open source software to fulfill their needs.

It also seems to show that as open source ERP and CRM applications mature, they could become a key driver for open source database adoption.
