San Jose, California – July 3, 2007 – Continuent, Inc., the leading provider of commercial open source middleware solutions for database high availability, today announced its new version of its Continuent™ uni/cluster software, Continuent uni/cluster 2007 for PostgreSQL.
Continuent uni/cluster 2007 is a suite of availability software modules that deliver high-availability and scalability clustering for virtually any mission critical database application.
The newest release of Continuent uni/cluster for PostgreSQL provides the highest level of availability and scalability for PostgreSQL customers.
Continuent uni/cluster offers a multi-master approach to database replication. Data is committed and available to all database serves in the cluster simultaneously, effectively eliminating latency involved with traditional, less effective approaches to replication. Continuent uni/cluster offers more effective scalability through load balancing since any database server can be used to process user queries. “Guaranteed data availability is the lifeblood of today’s enterprise, especially in healthcare and critical care applications. Traditional closed-source database solutions are simply too limited to meet the evolving needs of enterprises that are increasingly reliant on data to serve their employees, customers and partners,” said Eero Teerikorpi, CEO of Continuent. “Continuent uni/cluster for PostgreSQL provides business continuity in the enterprise by guaranteeing the highest level data availability with consistent and predictable response times.”
The new features in Continuent uni/cluster include:
These performance improvements are designed to reduce latency of operations and increase overall throughput. For example, the throughput of SQL write statements like INSERT or UPDATE has increased more than two-fold over the previous release.
The command line console has a number of additions designed to simplify administrative commands and reduce chances of operator error.
