About PGDU

PostgreSQL Down Under Incorporated (PGDU) is a non-profit association committed to supporting the growth, adoption, and education of PostgreSQL, the world’s most advanced open-source database, throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Call for Papers

We invite you to submit proposals for talks covering a broad range of PostgreSQL-related topics. PG Down Under welcomes submissions from PostgreSQL professionals, application developers, DBAs, operations engineers, decision-makers, and PostgreSQL contributors of all experience levels.

Sponsorship Opportunities

We offer five sponsorship tiers, each providing varying levels of brand visibility and engagement opportunities:

  • Platinum
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • PostgreSQL Patron
  • Cocktail Event Sponsor

We welcome enterprises that use PostgreSQL or provide PostgreSQL-related services and support to join us as sponsors. The PostgreSQL Patron tier is designed for organisations that want to demonstrate their commitment to the PostgreSQL community while gaining recognition as valued contributors to the event.

The sponsorship prospectus can be found here.

Suggested Topics

We encourage submissions across a wide range of PostgreSQL-related themes, including:

  • Use Cases: How does your organisation use PostgreSQL?
  • Features & Deep Dives: Leveraging PostgreSQL features to solve real-world challenges
  • Performance Optimisation: Best practices for tuning PostgreSQL workloads
  • Application Development: Integrating PostgreSQL with modern applications
  • Scaling Strategies: Efficient approaches to scaling PostgreSQL
  • Security Best Practices: Ensuring database security and compliance
  • Deployment & Infrastructure: Cloud, hybrid, and on-premises environments
  • New Technologies & Extensions: Innovations and ecosystem contributions
  • Operations & Management: Managing PostgreSQL at scale
  • Upcoming Features: Exploring what’s next in future PostgreSQL releases

We encourage open-source-focused talks. While we welcome discussions that involve PostgreSQL in managed services or commercial products, your content should be primarily open-source-centric. Sales pitches will not be accepted.

Selection Process

All submissions will be reviewed by the talk selection committee based on abstracts, titles, and submission notes.

Each committee member votes on every submission and assigns a score. Committee members abstain from voting on their own submissions. When a presenter has multiple submissions, the committee selects the topic that best fits the conference to ensure a diverse range of talks and speakers.

The talks are sorted by their average score, and the final selection is made during committee discussions, focusing on the highest-rated submissions.

Things to Consider

  • Abstract: A clear and concise abstract is critical. It should convey the knowledge that will be gained by the audience, be to the point, and should not be AI-generated.
  • Subject Relevancy: Ensure your topic is directly connected to PostgreSQL.
  • Speaker Profile: Provide a complete speaker profile, including your full name, relevant expertise and photo.
  • Number of Speakers: Talks are ideally delivered by one or two speakers. If multiple speakers are involved, additional speakers can be added post submission, by editing the submission and adding the Additional Speaker in the speakers field.
  • Travel Sponsorship: As a community-run conference, we kindly ask speakers to arrange their own travel and accommodation.
  • Duration of the Talks: Talks should be 40 minutes including Q&A

Selected speakers will receive free entry to the conference.

  • Submission Opens: March 2, 2026
  • Submission Deadline: July 15, 2026

Audio and video recordings of the lectures may be published in various formats under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) license, which permits commercial use by media institutions for reporting purposes. If you prefer your lecture materials not to be published or streamed, please indicate this in your submission.
