Hello everybody,

The Sydney PostgreSQL Users Group will meet on Tuesday, September 4th, 6:30PM,
at Fujitsu Australia in North Sydney.

Arul Shaji will be giving a presentation on the usage of two new PostgreSQL
features, which he co-authored and which will be included in
PostgreSQL version 8.3:

* Updateable Cursors

A feature that allows users to create interactive cursors and to
achieve sensitivity within transactions. The presentation will cover
how to declare cursors with the updateability clause and how they
interact with other transactions when it comes to select, delete and
update.

* Machine-Readable CSV logs

With this feature PostgreSQL logs can be output in a pre-set CSV
format, which can then be loaded into a database and analysed. The
presentation will include how to configure, output, load and analyse a
CSV log.

Meet Arul Shaji and myself at the foyer of 15 Blue St North Sydney at
6:30pm. The
meeting will be held in a board room (16.1) on level 16. Security
restrictions apply, so you will not be able to go straight to the
room. Please call me on 0439 594 738 if there are any problems or
questions.

You can see a map of approximately where the buillding is here:

Free beer provided as usual.

Thanks,

Charles Duffy
