Error al Intalar postgres

Buenas a todos. como veran recien estoy empesando a utilizar postgres y me
eh topado con algunas dificultades. quiero instalar postgres 7.4.12 en un
Xandros.
cuando hago : /usr/local/pgsql/bin/initdb -D ../data/
me tira lo siguiente:

"postgres".
This user must also own the server process.

The database cluster will be initialized with locale en_US.UTF-8.
