Security releases 8.1.3, 8.0.7, 7.4.12 and 7.3.14 are tagged.  Get
ready to upgrade.

A wide-ranging discussion is going on over writing user-defined types
in Java and other languages.  The upshot of this is that you will be
able to make user-defined types without writing C code.

== PostgreSQL Product News ==

EMS SQL Manager 2005 for PostgreSQL version 3.4 released.

Mammoth PostgreSQL now has Debian and Ubuntu packages

MicroOLAP Database Designer for PostgreSQL released.

== PostgreSQL Local ==

At an SFPUG meeting and later at CodeCon 2006 in San Francisco,
Meredith Patterson presented her "query by example" PostgreSQL
extension.  This method of querying by approximation is an exciting
new tool for searches and for data mining in the future.  Possibly
more importantly to Meredith, her boyfriend proposed marriage to her
at the conclusion of her presentation.

== PostgreSQL in the News ==

JPUG will be having a conference February 17th and 18th.  Josh Berkus
will be speaking.

The Centre for Epidemiology and Research and Australian Centre for
Asthma Monitoring in New South Wales, Australia, have been using
PostgreSQL for real-time epidemiological studies.

Bruce Momjian was interviewed on bsdtalk
