did you add an entry in pg_hba.conf? which located in
<postgres_root>/data. For example, on my xp box, it's
c:\program files/postgreSQL/8.1-beta2/data.
add an entry under the "# IPv4 local connections:",
there should be one entry there for the localhost and
you can copy that line and just change the host. For
example, on my box, it looks like:
# IPv4 local connections:
host    all         all         127.0.0.1/32         
md5
host    all         all         10.3.157.30/32       
md5
then restart posgres and try again.
