I just cvsup'ed the latest changes, recompiled and initdb'ed. When trying
creatuser or 'psql template1' I get

postgres(at)feivel:~/pgsql/src/interfaces/ecpg.mm/test$ psql template1
Connection to database 'template1' failed.
unknown protocol character 'K' read from backend. (The protocol character
is the first character the backend sends in response to a query it
receives).

Oops.
