uh - --format=t means tar format. --format=p means plain text ...
Or am I missing something?
$pg_dump --help
Usage:
pg_dump [OPTION]... [DBNAME]
General options:
...
-F, --format=c|t|p output file format (custom, tar, plain text)
...
