As most DB's know to get full integrity in a backup you either have to
perform cold backups or have a point in time capable hot backup. If
Postgresql is truely useful as a production database you need a full
point in time backup and recovery system. I would consider using
Postgres for several commercial applications but, not at the expense of
losing my clients due to loss of data.
