No comment on a new mailing list, but I'm happy to collaborate if
there is interest. The key changes in which I'm presently interested
are:

* master/slave port specification (done);
* configurable sync delay (done);
* "current-as-of-snapshot" described by Andrew Sullivan;
* tools for easy setup and activation;
* multi-slave;
