Deberias instalar con este parametro

--without-zlib

O instalar la libreria zlib, si la necesitas claro esta

Debo instalar postgresql 7.4.8 en un ubuntu server 9.04 .

Por razones de que el sistema funcona con esa versión..al instalar una más
avanzada, marca error..

El tema es que al aplicar

sudo ./configure
