I'm experiencing the exact same issue:

PostgreSQL 9.1.6 on i686-pc-linux-gnu, compiled by gcc (GCC) 4.4.6 20120305
(Red Hat 4.4.6-4), 32-bit
CentOS release 6.3 (Final)

I might also turn full_page_writes off but I fear for data integrity in case
of a crash .....
