kernel 2.6 synchronous directory

Hi all,
I'm wondering if setting the $PG_DATA directory
as synchronous directory in order to make a crash
event more safe will penalyze the performances.

If you run a kernel 2.6 the command is:

chattr +S $PG_DATA
