Btw., there's a bug in the RPMs distributed with Red Hat 7.0.
If the postmaster that is under RPM and SysV init control is not running,
then a call '/etc/init.d/postgresql stop' will kill all other postmasters
on the system, for example those that I have running for development.
You should rely on the postmaster.pid file in the data area to find the
process to kill.
