No select possible, but vacuum shows results?

Hi -

after working for more than 26 hours on my specific problem (pg_log
deleted, all data still in files but not accessible), I have gotten
further for one inch.

Now I can see the relation ("\dt" and "\d tablename" both work proper),
and vaccum shows the correct amount of tuples (and throws nothing away),
but: "select * from tablename" brings 0 rows.

Is there a solution for that? Upgrade from 6.5.3 to 7.0.2?
