You seem to have gained a carriage return in your pg_hba.conf file. Please
remove it, so the md5 method is back on the end of the first host line:

# TYPE  DATABASE        USER            CIDR-ADDRESS            METHOD

# IPv4 local connections:
host    all             all             127.0.0.1/3          md5

# IPv6 local connections:
host    all             all             ::1/128                 md5
