Re: initdb failing

Hi,

As Mike G said, remove ipc-daemon (all versions). Perhaps re-install cygwin-1.5.10-3 afterwards (only that package); there have been some conflicts between executable names in cygipc and the ipc of cygwin-server.

Then check that the cygserver is actually really truly running. Either you forgot to start it, or it fails to start due to permission problems.

As per the instructions I start cygserver in the background and then run

I have installed postgresql on cygwin in the past no problem, this is the
first time have come across this error. When I installed cygwin I had some
jip regarding users and had to update my /etc/passwd file:
