08.04.0100 truncates bytea fields

08.04 version of driver (unicoce version) truncates 300 kb bytea fields if
used in insert statement.
Truncation occurs in the middle of byte octal representation, after 2
backslashes. Bad string in Postgres log is :

E'....\\'

I tried to add A8=90000000 to connection string but problem persists.
Previous version (8.3.04) works OK.

How to fix this ?
