Dalibo is proud to announce the release of Ora2Pg 10. This major release
allows you to scan your legacy Oracle servers and estimate the migration
costs. Ora2Pg also adds numerous improvements and enhancements such as
the support of Oracle external tables.

Since 2001, Ora2Pg is the best solution to migrate data from Oracle to
PostgreSQL and is used by thousands of companies around the world to
switch from the most expensive proprietary RDBMS to the most advanced
Open Source RDBMS!

With the 10.x series, Ora2Pg adds a long-awaited feature : the migration
assessment tool. When considering a data migration, Ora2Pg is now able
to provide a report with a detailed cost estimation of the migration
process. This report is generated in 2 steps. First, Ora2Pg scans every
object contained in the Oracle database and analyze how they will be
exported. Then, for each database object, Ora2Pg will calculate the
amount of work required (in man-days unit). This is helpful with very
large Oracle databases and with PL/SQL stored procedures.

Gilles Darold, the project leader and main developer of Ora2Pg,
explains: "Ora2Pg 10 is the first open source migration tool to provide
global reports and migration cost estimations. More and more companies
are considering moving from Oracle to PostgreSQL, and, with Ora2Pg, they
can now forecast the return on investment of their migration process."

The migration assessment tool was developed by Dalibo in collaboration
with Atos and the French DGFiP (the National Public Finance
Administration). Dalibo would like to thank the developers who submitted
patches and the users who reported bugs and feature requests, especially
: Dominique Legendre, Philippe Lang, Sebastian Fischer, Dennis Spaag,
Sorin Gheorghiu, and Siva Janamanchi. Ora2Pg is an open project. Any
contribution to build a better tool is welcomed. You just have to send
your ideas, features requests, or patches using the GitHub tools at
https://github.com/darold/ora2pg.
