  raise notice - displaying string having length over 4096 characters
causes crash in ODBC ANSI driver but seems to be ok on 7.4.3 driver.

Driver:      psqlODBC ANSI ver. 8.4.2
Database:    PostgreSQL 8.1.5 on i686-redhat-linux-gnu
Error:       Faulting application vb6.exe, version,
              faulting module psqlodbc30a.dll, version, fault
address 0x00045431.

Notes: Version 7.4.3 of psqlodbc driver driver does not expose
this issue

Calling procedure from VB

Const strConnect = "DRIVER={PostgreSQL
conn.ConnectionString = strConnect
Set RCS = conn.Execute("SELECT * FROM

Called pl/pgsql function

     --sqltext is dynamically built here with a LENGTH OVER 4096 characters

     --next line if enabled causes crash
     --raise notice '%',sqltext;

     FOR ret_row IN EXECUTE sqltext LOOP
         return next ret_row;
     END LOOP;

Hope this helps track down the issue(s) if any...
