Exciting careers at US-based Network Security Startup (Gurgaon, India)
======================================================================

Guavus is a development-stage startup in network security and
monitoring. Started in 2005 by PhDs in the US, Guavus now has multiple
patent filings and is backed by a stellar team. US team has a combined
experience of 40+ years in networking, with more than 200 publications
in the area, and a proven track record of building world-class companies
from startups. Our management style is flat & technical merit is sole
basis for decisions. Our new development center in Gurgaon comprises of
a highly focused and growing group of engineers (most from IIT). Our
flagship product will be ready by the end of this year.

We seek energetic team players across all areas of computer science --
graphics, networking, databases, machine learning, operating systems,
data mining and algorithms -- to help execute our vision for making the
Internet a safer, cleaner place. You will help build a unique
distributed network security infrastructure that can analyze and
visualize petabytes of data in seconds (think Google for Internet
traffic). From a broader perspective, candidates have a unique chance to
witness and participate in building a company from the ground up.

For the right candidates, Guavus will offer generous, and rewarding
compensation packages, including better-than-best-of-industry salaries
(depending on experience and skill set), attractive stock option
offerings, frequent travel to US, vacation and holiday pay, and most
importantly, a fun, intellectually stimulating atmosphere, conducive to
both career and personal growth. There will always be a big company to
work for when you are old or lack the energy, but the opportunity to
build one doesn't come along every day. So if you are looking for a
challenging but rewarding and unique career at a promising startup,
where you can profit both financially and intellectually, email a resume
and cover letter to talent(at)guavus(dot)com <mailto:talent(at)guavus(dot)com>

Current Job Openings
=====================

At present, we have the following openings (but we are always looking to
hire talented minds):

All candidates must have:

+ BTech in CSE or higher
+ excellent analytical skills,
+ excellent english communication skills, a can-do attitude, ability to
+ quickly master new technologies.

Network Developers: You have significant router knowledge, especially
with Cisco & Juniper routers, CCIE a plus. You have excellent C++
skills, and have experience with NetFlow, SNMP, IDS/IPS, wide-area
routing (BGP, ISIS) and related technologies. You will build a scalable
data collection module, which will interact with routers, collect data
from hundreds of devices across the network and organize all this
information.

Systems Developers: You are adept at processing terabytes of data, have
experience working with network data, and are an expert in C++ and
Linux. You also are familiar with techniques in machine learning and
have a background in (or are eager to learn more about) statistics.
Experience with multi-processing, multi-threading, and synchronization a
huge plus. You will tame the massive amounts of data, and use
sophisticated cutting-edge algorithms to extract interesting events from
it.

Visualization Developers: You are an expert web developer. You are
excited by aesthetics, by rich internet apps, by google maps. You are an
expert in Flash and Flex, are creative and a strong coder (artists alone
need not apply). Preference will be given to graphics/games developers,
or developers of custom Flash widgets. You will build a revolutionary
interface that will allow operators to understand and manage their
networks.

Platform Engineers: You are adept at system administration, programming
Perl and shell scripts, and can also code in C++. You know Apache 2 and
PostgreSQL, and what makes them tick really fast. You are comfortable
with on-the-fly configuration of firewalls, SELinux, hardware and
software RAID, tuning TCP parameters, troubleshooting misbehaviors, and
managing computer infrastructure. You are as comfortable with the
hardware as you are with Linux. RHEL certification a plus, but not
required.

Database Engineers: You know PostgreSQL (or Oracle) like the back of
your hand. Vacuuming, bitmap indices, snapshots, and index optimization
should be comfortable terms. You have strong data modeling and data
representation skills (with space optimization in mind). You have
experience interacting with databases using C++, through a library such
as pgsqlxx. You believe that anything but graphics can be done in SQL,
and know what makes queries fast.

Technical Managers: You have considerable project management experience
especially with coordinating off-shore teams. You know how to motivate,
how to push, how to inspire a team: you are a natural leader. You are
also technically strong: proficient developer, experience in building
large heterogeneous systems (using Makefiles, ANT), and an expert in
quality assurance (defining processes and building unit tests). You will
coordinate and manage gifted engineers, liaison with remote offices, and
ensure that deadlines are consistently beaten.
