Thank you very much for your help.
I tried to append the "--disable-shared" flag to the configure command but I
always have the same error!

I'm going crazy!
I have compiled PostgreSQL 6.5.1 with JAVA and JDBC on Linux on an i686
without any problems but on our IRIX .....!

Is your file template/irix5 the original one ?
